The total extent of water-related ecosystems in Ghana is 15,977 square kilometres, representing 7.02 % of its land area. The total extent of water-related ecosystems is made up of 0.097 % permanent lakes and rivers, 0.27% seasonal lakes and rivers, 2.4 % reservoirs, 4.2 % inland vegetated wetlands and 0.079 % mangroves.
